I only have great comments to make about Gijos Klinikos and Dr. Belickas. I have had two operations on two different knees and their service and skills are just amazing. I was able to contact Dr. Belickas, directly, for my second operation due to an issue occurring as I was travelling to Europe. I was able to see him for tests and then have an operation a week later.
I am, nearly, 67 years old and before my first knee operation I could hardly walk and was told by my surgeon, in Canada, that I was too young and not as important as other patients on his wait list which was alarmingly long!! I have, always, been active and needed surgery so I located the clinic in Kaunas and it was 1/3 the price of having the operation in the US and that included my travel costs to Lithuania. The service and the skill of the surgeon gave me a new lease on life and I am, now, actively playing sports, soccer, hiking, skiing etc.
I would have no qualms, whatsoever, to go back there when needed. The 'whole feel' and friendly attitude of all concerned including the surgeons is just something we do not experience herein Canada. To be able to contact my surgeon and get a personal response from him means so much. He was, also, willing to talk or come see me whenever I had questions at the clinic. You can plan your operation around the dates that work for you and there is only a short wait time. Everybody wants the procedure to be successful but the costs are not prohibitive compared to Europe and North America.
I managed to see Vilnius before my ops and that was just an "added bonus". The overall experience of the service, the a-la-carte food and most importantly the end result is beyond the expectations that I had. The after service with physios, masseuses etc. was fantastic and they do offer recovery at a retreat outside the city if spaces are available. Unfortunately, my first operation was in the Summer and the retreat was full but I was, still, provided with my own private room at the clinic.
