MEDICAL TOURISM

FAQ

What is medical tourism?

Medical tourism may be defined as the arranged travel abroad with the intention to restore, maintain or enhance an individual’s health or well-being. Such travelers are mainly driven to the countries that can offer lower costs and/or are free of long waiting times for this healthcare. A usual medical trip looks like this: a few days for the treatment, a few days in a rehabilitation center, and a few days of sightseeing and touring around (if the doctor permits). Putting it differently, medical tourism is not only about receiving medical treatment, but also – experiencing a new country and relaxing!

Lithuania is one of the top medical tourism destinations in Europe!

What about the tourism part?

Medical tourism is not only about the treatment but also activities that you normally do on a regular holiday (if the doctor permits). Upon request, we can organize sightseeing trips and other extras.

Of course, some procedures require peaceful rehabilitation afterwards; thus, we will act according to the surgeon’s recommendations as safety always comes first. Overall, it is up to you to decide how much leisure time you want on your trip to Lithuania.

What are the risks involved in treatment abroad?

No matter whether you get the treatment in your home country or Lithuania, there are, naturally, certain risks involved. You can have a quick overview of the risks of specific treatments in their respective descriptions. However, the experience and healthcare standards of our partner clinics allow us to lower these risks to a minimum. Of course, during the free online consultation you will be personally guided through all the risks (even the least likely ones) that are associated with your treatment and it is up to you whether to take it or not.

We encourage our clients to make sure that the doctors are qualified, before making the decision where to have the needed treatment. You can learn more about our partner clinics and physicians under Healthcare Partners, and the experience of our former customers under Testimonials.

Will I get insurance against complications or other problems?

Whether you will be insured against injury (occurring during or due to the surgery / treatment) or malpractice depends on what treatment / procedure you are willing to undergo. Therefore, please inquire us about this possibility for your chosen treatment / procedure. For instance, for plastic surgeries at our partner clinic, you are insured by a reliable insurance covering

Is medical tourism for me?

It is the right thing for you, if you are looking for medical, surgical, dental, wellness or other kinds of care and at the same time you want to:

  • experience a new country and culture.

Why do people travel abroad?

Usually, individuals choose to receive treatment abroad due to one, few or all of these factors:

  • High quality;

  • Low cost;

  • Short or no waiting times;

  • All inclusive care;

  • More privacy;

  • New country/culture experience.

Can I take someone else with me?

Definitely! We will take full care of you and any of your co-travelers. Whether they need medical assistance or simply want to enjoy Lithuania, we will help them with everything they wish. We give special prices for accommodation, transportation and leisure activities so everything will be much cheaper with us.

Why can’t I organize everything on my own?

You are free to do so. If you decide to organize a medical tourism trip on your own, you can still ask us if something is unclear – we will be happy to help!
