What does breast reduction surgery involve, and what will the results look like?

During the procedure, small, carefully placed incisions allow the surgeon to remove excess skin and tissue while reshaping the breast. The nipple and areola are gently repositioned to a higher, more natural looking position. Scars are typically located around the areola and along the natural crease beneath the breast, where they are less visible under clothing.

Over time, these scars usually fade. Most patients find that the improvement in comfort, posture, and breast shape far outweighs the memory of the procedure itself. The result is a lighter, more balanced appearance and relief from the discomfort that led them to consider surgery in the first place.

What about the possible complications and what if something goes wrong?

There is a small risk for complications that may occur after the surgery. For example bleeding, slow healing, and infection. These conditions may lead to bigger scars.

While the main goal of the surgery is to make the breast look natural, there might be irregularities, asymmetry, or differences in the size and shape of the areola and the nipple area. The surface of the nipple’s nerves is being disturbed during the surgery, thereof the patient might face a lack of sensitivity there. Yet, it’s only temporal. There is also a slight risk that breast reduction patients will not be able to breastfeed after the surgery.

While still in Lithuania: in case you are feeling unwell or there is anything abnormal, you will be immediately checked upon by the medical personnel. Should there be a need for a follow-up procedure, it would be carried out for you free of charge.

The complication in the later stages of the recovery is even rarer and most of the time, not an emergency. If they happen, our surgeon would consult you online and explain the steps to take.
